Main Story - LA Rams complete deal for Brandin Cooks
The LA Rams have acquired New England Patriots wide receiver, Brandin Cooks along with a 4th round pick in exchange for their 1st round pick (23rd) and a 6th round pick.
The Rams have been scouting the WR market for the last few months now, with links even surfacing between OBJ and the LA franchise. Its safe to say Les Snead and the coaching staff at the Rams have been fierce when adding players to their roster in the last few weeks. We have seen Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and Ndamokung Suh all head to LA and certainly from a talent point of view, making their defense one to be feared for the start of the new season. However, its players on the offense they have been less pursuant with.
With Cooks, they get a 24-year-old with a top end speed, huge big play ability and is only one of three players who has 1,000-plus receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns in each of his last three seasons. Can you guess who the other two are? Antonio Brown and Larry Fitzgerald. So its clear the Rams are getting a great pedigree at wideout.
Lets look a little deeper at Cooks:
20th Overall Pick in 2014 (Saints)
Cooks is set to make $8.5million this year
In 2017, Cooks had 65 receptions for 1,082 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. Ranked 2nd on the team behind only tight end, Rob Gronkowski
3 straight 1000-yard seasons
16.6 average receiving yards per reception
Cooks has been traded twice already, Saints to the Patriots and Patriots to the Rams
I am a Giants fan, but I cannot tell you how excited I am to watch the LA Rams play football at the start of this 2018 season.
